Who is responsible

This website is run by Jaspreet Kaur, a frontend developer based in India, who is responsible for the personal data described here.

What I collect and why

Visit statistics. If you agree in the cookie banner, the site uses Google Analytics, added through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to understand how people use it: which pages are read, how visitors arrive, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location based on your IP address. I use these reports only to improve the content and the site. They do not tell me who you are, and I do not combine them with other data about you.

Emails you send. If you email me, I receive your name, email address and whatever you include in your message. I use this only to reply and, if we work together, to manage that project. I do not add you to a mailing list or share your message.

Server logs. Like every website, the server records technical details of each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. My hosting provider keeps these logs for a short period to keep the site secure and working.

What the site does not do. There are no contact forms, comment forms, accounts, newsletters, advertising or social media tracking pixels on the site. Fonts are served from this website rather than from Google Fonts.

Cookies and your choices

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept statistics cookies. Nothing from Google loads until you choose Accept. If you choose Reject, or close the banner, Google Analytics stays switched off and the site works exactly the same.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_* to tell visits apart and measure returning visitors. They contain a random identifier, not your name or email address. The site also uses Google Consent Mode, so Google is told what you chose.

Your choice is remembered with small cookies starting with cmplz_, so the banner does not appear on every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, it is treated as a Reject.

You can change your mind at any time through Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. The full list of cookies is in the cookie policy. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

WordPress sets its own cookies only for people who log in to manage the site.

Who else handles your data

Google provides Google Analytics and may process data on servers outside India, including in the United States. Google describes how it uses this data in its privacy policy and in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Hostinger hosts the website and its server logs.

Google (Gmail) hosts my email, so messages you send me are stored in my Gmail account.

I do not sell or rent personal data, and I do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Embedded content and links

Some articles include content embedded from other services, such as live code examples from CodeSandbox or CodePen, or videos. Embedded content only loads if you accept marketing cookies in the banner or choose to load it from its placeholder, because the service may collect data and set cookies just as if you had visited its site directly. Each service’s own privacy policy applies, and the cookie policy lists the services the site currently uses.

Articles and pages link to other websites, such as documentation, tools, code examples and my profiles on LinkedIn and Upwork. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which this policy does not cover.

How long data is kept

Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in the Analytics account and then deleted automatically. Emails are kept for as long as they are needed for our conversation or any work that follows, and are then deleted. Server logs are kept by the hosting provider for a limited time for security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, for visitors in the UK and European Union, the GDPR, you can ask to see the personal data I hold about you, correct it, delete it or withdraw any consent you have given. Email email hidden (enable JavaScript) and I will respond as soon as I can, and within the time the law requires.

If you are not satisfied with my response, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live. In India, that is the Data Protection Board of India.

Children

This site is written for professionals and is not aimed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

If the way the site handles data changes, for example if a new service is added, I will update this page and the date below.
